We Stand For opposes Notre Dame allowing federal access to student information for the purposes of deportation, otherwise known as a Sanctuary Campus. In conjunction with a faculty-led petition effort (see petition here) and a national walkout movement, students led a walkout from classes.

Facebook Event

During this walkout, which attracted over 400 people to Main Building, students delivered the petition signatures to University President John Jenkins.

UPDATE (Feb. 16, 2017): Though he refused to declare Notre Dame a Sanctuary Campus, President Jenkins has agreed to continue to protect students’ identity unless legally compelled to release it. Read more from The Observer. President Jenkins also signed a letter from American universities in support of immigration reform that is supportive to students (Story).
